Every Godrej typewriter carriage is held together by a series of precisely fitted components. One of the smallest yet most important among them is the Carriage End Plate Washer.

At first glance, it may look like an ordinary washer. In reality, this washer was specifically designed to fit inside the carriage end plate mounting hole used on Godrej typewriters.

Unlike standard hardware washers, this part is manufactured to a highly specific size:

• A slightly smaller washer will sit loose and fail to support the screw properly.
• A slightly larger washer will not enter the carriage end plate recess at all.
• Only the correct dimension allows proper installation and secure fastening of the carriage end plate assembly.

This creates a major challenge during restoration and repair work because such washers are rarely available in local hardware markets. They are generally produced only in very large manufacturing quantities, making them difficult for individual mechanics and collectors to source.
