Unlike Godrej, Facit, Halda, and many other standard typewriters, Remington machines use unique platen core sizes that require dedicated shell dimensions for proper fit and performance.

Remington standard typewriters were manufactured with two distinct platen core sizes — a thick core and a thin core. This product is the Single Shell variant, designed exclusively for the thick Remington platen core. Due to the larger core diameter, a thinner rubber shell is required to achieve the correct finished platen size and maintain proper machine operation.

Over time, original platen rubber becomes hard, glazed, or cracked, leading to excessive typing noise, poor paper grip, lighter impressions, and increased wear on valuable typefaces.
